Hoffman Town Center Interpretive Plan

CLIENT

The Hoffman Company

LOCATION

Alexandria, VA

For this placemaking effort, H+R worked with the City of Alexandria and the Hoffman Company to develop an interpretive plan for the Hoffman Town Center, a growing, mixed-use destination with entertainment, dining, shopping and public spaces at the site of a long-lost tobacco port. Analyzing planned buildings and amenities; site circulation and transportation patterns; historical features, assets and themes, H+R developed an approach to public art, iconography, interpretive features, materials and finishes. The plan draws on the site's cultural heritage and archeological assets to establish a character and sense of place for Hoffman Town Center, rooted in the area's history and distinct story.
