George Washington's Ferry Farm Interpretive Plan
CLIENT
George Washington Foundation
LOCATION
Fredericksburg, VA
In this multi-year effort, H+R worked with Ferry Farm to develop and implement an interpretive Master Plan that forefronts the major role this landscape played in the formative years of the nation's first president. Working closely with Quinn Evans architects and AECOM landscape architects, H+R's work outlines interpretive experiences both indoors and out. The Master Plan includes multimedia concepts to enrich a reconstructed Washington Home, an iPad-based digital tour to reveal the site's buried history, a "science of history" archaeology lab exhibit and an expansive trail system with a series of interpretive hubs emanating from a new visitor center.
